DuPont Downs Farmers Market
Have you ever visited a farmers market? Use to be just a place to buy fresh veggie and fruit. Not anymore. Today's market is quite different. You can find a large selection of things such as live flowers, garden plants, handcrafted soaps, lotions, soy candles, bakery items, many different sewn items like purses, felted gloves, scarves, purses pottery, wood crafts and many, many more. This is a great place to find one of a kind items. Many markets include organic produce. Sarah and I use as much organic and local ingredients in the lotion, soap and lip balm as possibly. Look for Sarahs' old fashioned lard soap made like grandma use to make that includes lard from Seven Sons Farms about 15 minutes from where she lives. Seven Sons has beef that is grass fed along with free range chickens and hogs. It doesn't get any more natural than this. There will also be a goat milk soap with Blueberry seeds for a gentle exfoliation. The goat milk is from happy local goats. The bees wax is from Blueberry Acres about 25 minutes from my home. All of these people are working to give us a natural and as organic as possible products. My soy candles are made with soy grown and processed here in the USA. The 8 ounce jars are made here in the USA.
It was a great day at Dupont Downs Farmers market. Perfect weather and the nicest people. Sarah and I did get a chance to talk to people about going green and that you don't have to do it all at once. More and more products and ideas are out there today than ever before. The hit today was Dakota, a 200 lb Great Dane that is most friendly dog you will ever see. Stop by and meet this big lovable puppy any Thursday 12:00 to 7:00 pm.
Buy local and from venders that search for local and or USA ingredients whether it from us or from someone else. Let's start putting Americans back to work
