Soap Station
Today we wrapped a lot of soap, and we sold a lot of soap. Sally is on it! She has designed the coolest labels for all our body products in our Woodstock Festival. You would sooo toss away the carmex if you ever tried one of her organic beeswax lipbalms. Come see us next thursday at Dupont Downs. Dakota still wants a pet child of his own, he just won't believe us humans when we tell him he cannot own someone, and he refuses to think seriously about a kitten. So get greeted by Dakota Dupont, stock up on fresh veggies and eggs, there are a few produce vendors there, candles, soap, that's us, but the soap boys are there too..Hagan and Gary make awesome soap in many many flavors! We have a new baker and omg I am eating a peaches n cream fry pie right now that is...hey!!!! who ate my pie?....to die for. I'm tellin ya honest she da baker chick. You can get flowers, amazing gifts, come see the mineral man, the new jewelry maker. Today they were letting the kids pick out a free (semi precious) stone. I love to watch children making decisions. The market just keeps getting better and better. Of all the markets around these days, this one will be the one to frequent. The location is perfect, right by the library! Rain or shine, we are under cover. Come see us thursday next, you won't be dissappointed. And bring the kids....especially if you have any spares.

Day at the Farm
This saturday past we had an awesome day with the grandkids. We spent the afternoon at the Seven Sons Farm grand opening celebration of their new farm store. Just last week, Hoosier Herbal Hippies dropped off the first batch of amazing soap we made from the natural tallow provided from their grass fed beef. Timing was off for the soap to be ready for this event, but early opinions from the farm family tells us we will be doing business soon. Some of that first batch will be available at the Dupont Downs Farmer's Market tomorrow, from noon until 7pm. You should try the Lavender Eucalyptus shampoo bar. I forgot the natural silkiness that high quality tallow gives to the formula. It is so exciting being a part of the growing vendor family there as well as customer base. Keep in touch and see when we will be giving soap making demonstrations at the Roanoke Farmers Market this summer. They contacted us last week and we would love to show everyone how they can make enough soap in one afternoon to last a year. Or to give for Christmas. Or sell on your own!

Country Heritage Winery
Another awesome place to shop local is Country Heritage Winery on Hwy 3 not to far past the Huntertown turnoff. This is a new winery that is owned and run by the owners of Blueberry Acres. I buy the bees wax from them to use in my lotions, lip balm and soap. Not only are they offer some of the best wines I've ever tasted but they are offering locally made jams and preserves, soaps, lotions and lip balms. They plan to keep adding local products to their store. Go to the web site link posted for more details and hours.

Locally grown tomatoes and cucumbers
I know I'm a little prejudice toward buying local, natural & organic as possible but I have to rave about the tomatoes and cucumbers I bought at Dupont Downs yesterday. The tomatoes were so tasty and perfect in shape and size. The cucumbers were HUGE and tasted like cucs should. I was surprised when I found out they were grown in a local greenhouse in Cedarville - Cedar Creek Farms. These were nothing like the ones you get in grocery stores. The vendor picks them the morning of the market so you know they are fresh.
New to the market is "A Taste of Shipsewanna". A baker that has the most mouthwatering baked goods. From seasonal pies (rhubarb pie this week), breads, cookies, peach & cream fry patty and a blueberry lemon bread I couldn't resist.
Starting the June 16th a semi precious jewelry maker will be joining our growing market family. They stopped by Thursday. The wife had on some of the most beautiful jewelry.
Stop by and see everyone, I think you will like it.

Hummingbird Bonus
I took a picture of the plastic bag and bottle dryer I have in my kitchen window, to begin a tutorial showing you how easy it is to make. Tutorial soon to follow, but I had to show you this first. The litte girl hummingbird is sitting there snacking in the background right outside my window. My window makes me happy.

DuPont Downs Farmers Market
Have you ever visited a farmers market? Use to be just a place to buy fresh veggie and fruit. Not anymore. Today's market is quite different. You can find a large selection of things such as live flowers, garden plants, handcrafted soaps, lotions, soy candles, bakery items, many different sewn items like purses, felted gloves, scarves, purses pottery, wood crafts and many, many more. This is a great place to find one of a kind items. Many markets include organic produce. Sarah and I use as much organic and local ingredients in the lotion, soap and lip balm as possibly. Look for Sarahs' old fashioned lard soap made like grandma use to make that includes lard from Seven Sons Farms about 15 minutes from where she lives. Seven Sons has beef that is grass fed along with free range chickens and hogs. It doesn't get any more natural than this. There will also be a goat milk soap with Blueberry seeds for a gentle exfoliation. The goat milk is from happy local goats. The bees wax is from Blueberry Acres about 25 minutes from my home. All of these people are working to give us a natural and as organic as possible products. My soy candles are made with soy grown and processed here in the USA. The 8 ounce jars are made here in the USA.
It was a great day at Dupont Downs Farmers market. Perfect weather and the nicest people. Sarah and I did get a chance to talk to people about going green and that you don't have to do it all at once. More and more products and ideas are out there today than ever before. The hit today was Dakota, a 200 lb Great Dane that is most friendly dog you will ever see. Stop by and meet this big lovable puppy any Thursday 12:00 to 7:00 pm.
Buy local and from venders that search for local and or USA ingredients whether it from us or from someone else. Let's start putting Americans back to work
